Family Fun Day

Slide & Splash, located just outside Lagoa, is one of the Algarve’s biggest and most established waterparks — a full-day attraction that blends adrenaline rides, family fun and wide, landscaped spaces perfect for relaxing in the sun. Open since 1986, it has continually expanded with new slides, upgraded pools and modern facilities, making it a favourite for both locals and holidaymakers.

The park is large, vibrant and easy to navigate, with plenty of space to spread out even on busy summer days. You’ll find everything from high-speed chutes and twisting tubes to calmer family slides, splash zones for toddlers and dedicated areas where parents can unwind. Beyond the water attractions, the park also hosts seasonal live shows, offers a variety of food options, and provides extras such as lockers, VIP beds and shaded picnic areas.

Its central Algarve location — close to Albufeira, Carvoeiro and Portimão — combined with its long opening season from spring to autumn, makes it a reliable and popular choice for visitors wanting a fun, active day away from the beach.

  • Thrill Slides: High-speed chutes, twisting tubes and multi-lane racers for pure adrenaline.
  • Family Zones: Safe splash areas, gentle slides and water play designed for younger children.
  • Relax & Sunbathe: Wide lawns, shaded spots and optional VIP beds for added comfort.
  • Live Shows: Seasonal birds of prey, macaw and reptile demonstrations throughout the day.

Private Cabanas

For a more luxurious experience, guests can rent a VIP cabana, which includes sunbeds, a mini-fridge, a safe, and a discount on food.

Good To Know

Opening Season

Slide & Splash typically operates from early April until early November. Exact dates change slightly each year, but the park is consistently open throughout the main holiday season and well into autumn while the weather remains warm.

Arrival & Best Times

Arriving early is the easiest way to enjoy the major slides with shorter queues. Midday to mid-afternoon is the busiest period, especially in July and August. Visiting in May, June, September or October usually means a more relaxed experience with shorter waiting times.

Park Layout & Atmosphere

The park is large, open and easy to move around. Most slides are grouped in clusters, and family areas are kept separate from high-adrenaline attractions. There are large grassy spaces, shaded zones and plenty of places to relax between rides. Lifeguards are positioned at all attractions.

Height & Age Restrictions

Some slides require minimum heights of 1.20m to 1.40m for safety reasons. Younger children can enjoy the dedicated splash zones and small slides, which do not have major height limits. Restrictions are strictly enforced at each ride entrance.

Food & Drink

Slide & Splash has a good selection of restaurants, snack bars and drink kiosks throughout the park. Guests are allowed to bring their own food, but glass bottles, sharp objects and alcohol are not permitted.

Lockers, Sunbeds & VIP Areas

Lockers, parasols, sunbeds and VIP beds can be rented inside the park. Availability can be limited during peak periods, so it is sensible to secure these early in the day if needed. Changing rooms, showers and toilets are located throughout the site.

Shows & Demonstrations

The park runs seasonal animal demonstrations, typically featuring birds of prey, macaws and reptiles. Show schedules vary by date and may be adjusted during the season, so it is best to check the daily timetable on arrival.

Accessibility

While the park offers accessible toilets and generally flat access around most public areas, some attractions and pathways may be more challenging for wheelchair users. Ride access depends on each guest’s mobility requirements.

What to Bring

Essential items include swimwear, towels and high-factor sunscreen. The ground can become hot underfoot on summer days, so flip-flops or water shoes are recommended. Waterproof phone cases are useful but optional.

Who Enjoys the Park Most

Slide & Splash appeals to a wide range of visitors: families with young children who make use of the safe splash zones, teenagers and adults looking for high-speed slides, and groups wanting a fun, active day away from the beach. It suits both relaxed guests and thrill-seekers.

How Long to Spend Inside

Most visitors stay between five and seven hours. A full day allows time to enjoy all the major slides at least once, relax in the sun, watch a show and explore the different areas without rushing.

Location & Access

The park is beside the EN125 near Lagoa, close to Carvoeiro and Portimão. It is easily accessible by car and well placed for visitors staying in Albufeira, Armação de Pêra, Carvoeiro, Ferragudo or Lagos. Parking is available on-site.

Transfers & Getting There

For anyone without a vehicle, private transfers are the most convenient option. Door-to-door pick-up and drop-off avoid parking queues and allow groups to travel together comfortably, especially during peak season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book Slide & Splash tickets in advance?

Advance booking is strongly recommended during July and August, when daily visitor numbers are highest. On quieter dates earlier and later in the season, same-day availability is normally fine, but pre-booking still speeds up entry.

Are there any fast-track or priority options for the slides?

Slide & Splash does not operate traditional ride fast-track queues, but purchasing your tickets online or through a partner helps you avoid the ticket office queue at the entrance. Once inside, all slides operate on a first-come basis.

Is the water heated?

The pools and slides use ambient-temperature water. During the main summer months the water is warm and comfortable, while early-season mornings and cloudy days may feel cooler.

Can young children use the main slides if accompanied by an adult?

No. Height restrictions are based on safety requirements and apply regardless of adult supervision. Children must meet the stated height for each attraction to use it.

Is cash accepted inside the park?

Yes, both cash and major bank cards are accepted at restaurants, bars, equipment rental points and shops. There is also an ATM on-site for visitors who need it.

Are there shaded areas for families?

Yes, several shaded areas are scattered throughout the park, including tree-covered picnic spaces and sheltered sections near the children’s zones. Renting a parasol or VIP bed is another way to secure shade for the day.

Can I leave the park and re-enter later?

Re-entry is allowed as long as you obtain a hand stamp before leaving. This is useful for anyone who wants to access their car or return to nearby accommodation during the day.

Is parking available and does it cost anything?

Slide & Splash offers a large, open-air car park directly beside the entrance. Parking is free and does not require a reservation.

What happens in bad weather?

The park remains open during light rain or cloudy conditions, but attractions may close temporarily if there is thunder, lightning or high winds. In these cases, the park follows established safety procedures and reopens rides as soon as conditions improve.

Are towels or swimwear available to buy if we forget ours?

Yes, the on-site shop sells towels, swimwear, sunscreen, footwear and basic accessories. It is also the place to purchase souvenirs.

Is there somewhere to store valuables?

Lockers can be rented for the day and are located in several parts of the park. Sizes vary, allowing guests to store bags, phones, wallets and other personal items securely.

Are photos taken on the slides?

On selected slides, park photographers take action shots that can be viewed and purchased near the exit. Availability varies by day and attraction.

Does the park operate a shuttle service?

Slide & Splash previously offered limited shuttle services, but schedules vary each season. Private transfers remain the most reliable door-to-door option for visitors staying in Albufeira, Carvoeiro, Portimão or Lagos.
