The Number One Family Attraction

Aquashow is one of the Algarve’s most complete water and theme parks, combining high-adrenaline slides, wave pools, lazy rivers and dry rides with plenty of green areas to relax. Located on the outskirts of Quarteira, close to Vilamoura, it offers a full day out for families, groups and thrill-seekers looking for more than a simple pool-and-slide complex.

The outdoor waterpark features over 20 attractions for all ages and adventure levels, including the famous Free Fall slide – a 32-metre drop billed as one of the tallest of its kind in Europe – plus a large wave pool, children’s zones, family slides and a lazy river. Around the park, you’ll find snack bars, a shop, locker rental, sun loungers, shaded spaces and an on-site hotel with direct access, making it easy to base an entire day here.

Aquashow’s outdoor season typically runs from May to late September, with the park open daily from 10:00 to 18:00. All water and themed attractions inside the park are included in the ticket price, and babies up to 5 years old enter free. For cooler months, Aquashow also operates a separate indoor park next door on its own timetable and tickets, giving visitors a waterpark option almost all year round.

  • Free Fall Slide: Experience a 32-metre drop on one of Europe’s tallest free-fall water slides.
  • Wave Pool & Lazy River: Enjoy Portugal’s largest wave pool and a relaxing circuit on the slow river.
  • Roller Coasters: Coasters, air race rides and other themed attractions.
  • Family & Kids Areas: Pools and Aquakids zones designed especially for younger children.
  • Hotel On Site: Aquashow Park Hotel offers easy access to the attractions.

Good To Know

Outdoor Season and Opening Hours

The Aquashow outdoor waterpark generally operates from May through to the end of September. During this period, the park is open every day from 10:00 to 18:00, with all main attractions available, subject to weather and operational conditions. Opening dates and times can be adjusted by the park and are always confirmed on the official schedule.

Ticket Types and Ages

Outdoor tickets are sold in several categories, including Regular (approximately 11–64 years), Junior (children from 6–10 years), Senior (65+ years) and Baby (0–5 years). Babies enter free of charge, while adults and older children pay the standard or reduced rates depending on age. Some discounts, such as those for pregnant guests or visitors with certain disabilities, are only available at the park ticket office on presentation of proof.

Outdoor Park vs Indoor Park

This page focuses on the outdoor waterpark in Quarteira, which is open seasonally. Next door, Aquashow also operates an indoor waterpark with its own attractions, services, ticket types and timetable, typically running through autumn and winter on a separate schedule. Visitors interested in the indoor park should check the specific opening hours and prices for that venue before travelling.

Services and Facilities

Inside the outdoor park, guests have access to snack bars, restaurant areas, a shop, locker rental, baby-changing facilities, an infirmary, drinking fountains, toilets and free sun loungers. These services are designed to make it easy to spend the whole day on site without needing to leave for basic needs or supplies.

Food and Drink Policy

Aquashow offers a range of food options such as grilled meats, roast chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, sandwiches, snacks and ice creams, spread across several dedicated restaurant and bar areas. Guests are allowed to bring their own food and drinks into the outdoor park, but glass bottles and sharp objects are not permitted, and restaurant seating is reserved for on-site consumption only.

Lockers, Buoys and Loungers

Lockers can be rented after entering the park, with payment made at the shop located near the entrance. The rental involves a fixed fee plus a refundable deposit, which is returned when the key is handed back. Sun loungers and attraction buoys are included in the park admission and are available on a first-come, first-served basis at no extra cost.

Height Restrictions and Safety Rules

Each attraction has its own safety rules, including minimum height limits that commonly range from 1.00m to 1.40m depending on the slide or ride. Some attractions, such as Free Fall, require at least 1.20m height for use. The park prohibits the use of jewellery, watches, rings, necklaces, glasses and similar items on the slides and pools, and does not allow glass containers or sharp objects anywhere within the attraction area.

Children and Supervision

Children aged 12 and over may enter and remain in the park without an accompanying adult, while children under 12 must be accompanied by a paying adult at all times. Families are encouraged to agree on a clear meeting point in case anyone becomes separated. If help is needed, staff at the entrance or throughout the park can assist with locating children and providing information.

Accessibility and Reduced Mobility

The park offers access for wheelchairs and prams in general circulation areas and to several pools, including the wave pool, main swimming pool, tropical pool and slow river. Access to attractions with tall slide towers and certain mechanical rides can be limited for visitors with reduced mobility or specific disabilities, and decisions are made based on each attraction’s safety requirements. Some rides are not recommended for guests with certain physical limitations or for pregnant women.

Parking and Getting There

Aquashow is located at Volta do Parque, n.º 1, 8125-313 Quarteira, just off the main road network between Quarteira and Almancil. The park provides a large, open-air car park free of charge, and visitors are advised to note where they leave their vehicle and ensure it is locked. The location is convenient for guests staying in Quarteira, Vilamoura, Almancil, Vale do Lobo and surrounding resorts.

On-Site Support and Security

An infirmary staffed by nursing professionals is available to assist with minor injuries or health issues, and an SOS point is located in front of the wave pool. The park uses CCTV throughout for security and may ask visitors to follow staff instructions where safety is concerned. Failure to comply with rules can result in being denied access to certain attractions or, in serious cases, being asked to leave the park.

Who Enjoys Aquashow Most

Aquashow is designed for a broad visitor profile, from families with young children using the kids’ pools and Aquakids zones, to teenagers and adults drawn to the major slides and coasters. The mix of water attractions, wave pools, relaxing areas and themed rides makes it suitable for mixed groups where not everyone wants intense thrills all day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book Aquashow tickets in advance?

Advance booking is strongly recommended for July and August, when the park is at its busiest and queues at the ticket office can be long. At other times in May, June and September, tickets are often available on the day, but buying in advance still saves time at the entrance and can take advantage of online discounts when available.

Are all attractions included in the ticket price?

Yes. All water attractions and themed rides inside the outdoor waterpark are included in the standard admission price. There is no extra charge for specific slides or rides, although some optional services such as locker rental, food, drinks and souvenir photos are paid separately.

Are babies and very young children charged for entry?

No. Babies and very young children up to 5 years old can enter the outdoor waterpark free of charge. They must, however, be accompanied by a responsible adult and wear suitable swim nappies when using pools or water play areas, which can be purchased on site if needed.

Is there a difference between outdoor and indoor Aquashow tickets?

Yes. Outdoor waterpark tickets and indoor park tickets are separate products with different schedules, durations and prices. A ticket for the outdoor park does not include access to the indoor park, and indoor tickets are typically sold for specific time blocks. Visitors should choose the correct ticket depending on whether they want the outdoor summer park, the indoor park, or both on different days.

Can I buy food and drinks inside the park?

Yes. There are multiple food and drink outlets within the park offering grilled dishes, burgers, hot dogs, salads, sandwiches, snacks, desserts and ice creams, along with soft drinks and other beverages. These are spread around the site so that guests are never far from a place to eat or drink.

Can I bring my own picnic?

Bringing your own food and drinks into the outdoor park is allowed, which many families and groups choose to do. The main restrictions are around safety: glass bottles, sharp objects and items that could damage facilities or injure other guests are not permitted, and restaurant seating is reserved for customers consuming food purchased on-site.

Is parking free at Aquashow?

Yes. The outdoor waterpark offers a free, unattended car park right next to the entrance. Guests are asked to remember where they parked and to lock their vehicles, as the park does not accept responsibility for damage or theft in the parking area.

Are there facilities for guests with limited mobility?

The park provides access for wheelchairs and prams in the main circulation areas and to several pools such as the wave pool, main swimming pool, tropical pool and slow river. However, some attractions with high towers or specific ride characteristics are not suitable for visitors with certain physical or mobility limitations, and access may be restricted based on safety assessments.

What should I wear inside the park?

All visitors, including babies, must wear swimwear while using the attractions or pools. Waterproof footwear such as pool shoes is allowed and can be useful on hot surfaces. The park does not allow the use of regular clothing, jewellery, watches or glasses on the slides and many water attractions for safety reasons.

Can I use a GoPro or action camera on the slides?

Filming devices similar to a GoPro are allowed on many attractions, but they must be securely fixed to the user’s body, such as on the hand, arm or head, and never loose. Staff may refuse access if a camera is not properly secured or if it is considered unsafe for a particular ride.

Is smoking allowed in the park?

Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas where ashtrays are provided. It is not allowed in queues, on attractions, in pools or in indoor spaces, and guests are asked to use the marked smoking areas to keep shared spaces comfortable for everyone.

What happens if the weather is bad or rides are closed?

For safety, Aquashow may adjust or suspend certain attractions during adverse weather or for technical reasons. The park’s terms explain that closures for maintenance, safety or weather do not usually entitle visitors to discounts or refunds, and management reserves the right to take any measures necessary to protect guests and staff.
