Driving Requirements

One driver per buggy must hold a valid driving licence and be comfortable operating a vehicle on mixed terrain. Passengers do not need a licence.

Age & Height Restrictions

Drivers must meet the minimum age requirement set by the operator (typically 18+). Young passengers are often permitted but must fit seatbelt and safety guidelines.

What to Wear

Expect dust, mud, and water splashes depending on season. Wear comfortable clothing, closed shoes, and avoid light-coloured outfits. Sunglasses are recommended.

Safety Equipment

Helmets are provided and must be worn at all times. A safety briefing takes place before the tour begins.

Do I need driving experience to operate the buggy?

Yes — a valid driving licence is required for the driver. The buggies are automatic and beginner-friendly, so no prior off-road experience is needed.

Is it safe for passengers?

Yes, as long as safety instructions are followed. Passengers must remain buckled and meet the minimum height requirements.

What should I bring with me?

Comfortable clothing, closed shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen and water. Avoid bringing loose items that may fall out during the ride.

Are buggies difficult to control?

Will I get dirty?

Typically two (driver + passenger). Larger groups are arranged using multiple buggies.

Is hotel pickup included?

Quad Ventura

Quad Ventura runs small-group quad biking tours in the countryside just inland from Albufeira, starting near the village of Paderne. Tours follow a mix of quiet lanes, dirt tracks and rural trails through orange and lemon groves, woodland paths and low hills, with regular stops for photos and water. Groups are deliberately kept small, with a maximum of four quads on standard departures, which makes the experience more personal and avoids big convoys on the tracks. You can choose from shorter Adventure Tracks (around 1.5–2 hours, roughly 25–35 km of riding) or longer half-day tours such as the Algarve Explorer (around 3 hours and 50–60 km), with full-day itineraries also available that include extra stops and a local lunch. All tours are guided, include a full safety briefing before you set off, and use automatic quads that are suitable for confident first-timers as well as experienced riders. A full car driving licence is required for drivers; passengers can ride from age seven and up, subject to weight and safety limits.
